Bariatric surgery is proving to be helpful in select cases of diabetes. The data indicate that it not only changes the hormones that control blood sugars, but also in many cases, individuals find that don’t need to take medications when after surgery. Not only is it changing the hormones that control the blood sugars, but individuals.
Medical professionals are also learning more about some of the medications that have recently been developed for diabetes. They are finding that under certain circumstances those medications can help with weight loss. There is some research underway to see whether those medications can be helpful in people who don’t even have diabetes.
There is also a new technology known as an “endoluminal sleeve”. This innovation is not yet FDA approved, but is being used in other countries.
